Jónsi

This name may not ring a bell but the name Sigur Ros just might. Sigur Ros has always been known for their stunning live performance and Jónsi's will not disappoint. I recently saw him at Coachella and I was stunned at how few people were their to see Jónsi. It was by far the performance I was most excited to see at Coachella and it lived up to my expectations. During his song 'Grow Till Tall' I looked around and their were people crying in the audience because it was that beautiful. Jónsi (pronounced Yon-see) is the side project of the lead singer of Sigur Ros which was started with his boyfriend Alex who plays guitar in the band. His album 'Go' dropped in April and I have to say it is quite a gem. In many ways it is a lot like Sigur Ros and also very different. There are a few songs on the album that have that ambient soothing sound but there are also songs that are very upbeat and extremely catchy. Unlike Sigur Ros there are many songs that are sung in English. I read in an interview that he had some difficulty writing the lyrics for the album since he isn't fluent in English yet and it was difficult to put how he felt into words. He just released a new music video for his song 'Animal Arithmetic' and while your checking that out watch the first video he put out for 'Go Do'.
